How It Works

There have been many wonderful books written on the power of prayer by many authors. Is there really something to this miraculous way of improving your life?

The effectiveness of prayer has been the subject of research by the medical community over a number of years and many other secular testimonies have been performed documenting the positive effect of prayer.

Is it really as powerful as some people believe? Here are a few examples for you to give careful consideration to.

On Friday, November 13, 1998, a mass prayer was implemented on a worldwide basis, as a choice of peace during a time of escalating political tension in many parts of the world. Of specific interest that day was the expiration of a timeline imposed on Iraq to comply with the United Nations' demands for weapons inspections. Following months of unsuccessful negotiations for access into sensitive sites, the nations of the West had made it clear that Iraq's failure to comply would result in a massive and extended bombing campaign designed to destroy suspected weapons sites. Such a campaign would certainly have resulted in loss great loss of life, civilian as well as military. Linked through a global community accessing the World Wide Web, several hundred thousand people chose peace in a mass prayer carefully synchronized to precise moments that evening. During the time of the prayer, an event occurred that many consider to be a miracle. Thirty minutes into the aerial attack, the President of the United States, having received a letter from Iraqi officials stating that they would now cooperate with the requested weapons inspections, issued a rare order to US forces to "stand down", the military term for aborting a mission. John F. Harris, "US Launches, Then Aborts Airstrikes after Iraq Relents on U.N. Inspections," Washington Post, 15 November 1998.

In the late 1980's the effect of mass prayer and medication was documented through studies in major cities where the occurrence of violent crime decreased measurably in the presence of continuous peace vigils held by those trained for the purpose. The studies eliminated the possibility of "coincidence" stemming from natural cycles, changes in social policy, or law enforcement. While a state of calm was and peace was created within the study groups, the effects of their efforts were felt beyond the boundaries of the walls and buildings that they occupied. David W. Orme-Johnson, et al., "International Peace Project in the Middle East," The Journal of Conflict Resolution 32, no. 4 (December 1988), 778

In a report from the third annual conference of the International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine, scientists documented the nonphysical force of emotion actually changing the physical molecule of DNA. Based in rigorous testing of individuals capable of emotional self-management, as well as control subjects without any specialized training, the study reported that "individuals trained in generating focused feelings of deep love... were able to intentionally cause a change in the conformation (shape) of the DNA.Glen Rein, PhD., and Rollin McCraty, M.A., "Modulation of DNA by Coherent Heart Frequencies," proceedings of the Third Annual Conference of The International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine, Monterey, CA, June 1993.

All of the above examples have been taken from the book, The Isaiah Effect by Gregg Braden.

Positive Therapeutic Effects of Intercessory Prayer in a Coronary Care Unit Population

Cardiac patients from the San Francisco General Medical Center were randomly divided (using a computer-generated list) into two groups. The names of the patients in the "test" group were given to a group of Christians, who prayed for them while they were in the hospital.

The "placebo" group received no prayer. Neither the "test" nor the "placebo" group of patients knew if they were receiving prayer. Likewise, the hospital staff, doctors, or nurses were "blinded" since they did not know which patient belonged to which group. There were no statistical differences between the placebo and the prayer groups before prayer was initiated. The results demonstrated that patients who were prayed for suffered "less congestive heart failure, required less diuretic and antibiotic therapy, had fewer episodes of pneumonia, had fewer cardiac arrests, and were less frequently incubated and ventilated." www.godandscience.org

In The Hidden Messages in Water by Dr. Masaru Emoto, he tells of a priest repeating a prayer over Fujiwara Dam in central Japan. Photographs of the water from the dam were taken before and after prayer was offered. AFTER the prayer, the clarity of the water had undeniably changed for the better.

Having read and seen this evidence about the power of prayer, how do you feel about having that same power working in your life? Do you feel like you could benefit?

What if there was a program you could literally plug into, that automatically and perpetually helped you to stay in balance? And what if that program helped you physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually? Would you be interested if you, your parents, your children, your pets, your home and garden, even your business would benefit?

Both Deepak Chopra and Larry Dossey have studied the power of prayer and lectured extensively on the subject. Both accept and promote the fact that prayer technology (electronic means of sending out prayers) is an important and significant component of health and healing.

In an article on ongoing research into the power of prayer to heal, Dr. Deepak Chopra, who is well-known for his insights on science and spirituality, says these prayer experiments are proving what he's been saying all along: There are healing forces in nature that science is only beginning to understand. "What physicists are saying to us right now," he says, "is that there is a realm of reality which goes beyond the physical ... where in fact we can influence each other from a distance."

Dr. Dossey, in his book, Be Careful What You Pray For, looks closely at experiments with microorganisms. He states, "Skeptics who do not believe in the effects of distant intentions say that any observed result must be due to the expectation of the subject - or the power of belief and thought." Dossey argues that if bacteria respond to outside intentions by growing more slowly when prayed over, than control groups not receiving prayer, then one cannot dismiss this result by attributing it to negative suggestion.
